Why does Woodridge need an Aquatic and Fitness Centre?
Why a new pool?

From Woodridge College and Preparatory School pupils learning to swim, to confidently navigating the Van Staden’s River in a canoe, participating in the iconic River Mile and proudly representing the school at water polo, water is a major part of the Woodridge “experience”.

Water-based activities form part of the outdoor education curriculum in the Prep and College and pupils being comfortable in this space is so important.

Water polo is an expanding and popular sport and a need to provide our competitive swimmers with a professional training environment has been identified as a strategic imperative.

Due to a lack of water availability, our outreach “learn to swim” programme is simply not possible.

The new aquatic centre will double as a full water polo pool, freeing up the current pool for wider use by more pupils.

Why a new gym?

The current gym is well equipped, but very cramped and very old.

The conditioning of athletes is key to their holistic development.

With the fitness centre being adjacent to the aquatic centre, it will enable a more holistic training experience and the development of a rigorous rehabilitation program, guided by professional practitioners.

Purchase one of eight blocks of the mural on the internal wall of the swimming pool centre. Donors names will be recognised within the context of the mural. Each block is £12,500.
